Hi there,

Can I please get some help with GPS systems, at the moment im looking at a Goldfinger 605 one but i cant find much info on it...is this any good for quality? im also looking at the navmas 90i but its a bit pricey:P

If not, could someone please recommend something that works great and is still somewhat economical...its for a xmas present for my boyfriend:)

Couple of questions - what is your price range? and also is it just for use in NZ or other countries too?

Hi there,

Maybe 500 dollars tops Im thinking would be higest I want to go:)

It is only for NZ use but id also be open to international as my bf travels alot with work:)

I wouldn't go with Goldfinger. Navman and TomTom are excellent options.

I am moving this to the GPS forum.

Just got my hands on a Navman S150 before I went on holiday last week - travelled a good distance over the North Island, and it's a big improvement over my old Navman S90.

Some of the new things I like:

It reads out the road you are needing to turn into (eg, turn right into Great South Rd)
The TTG (Time To Go) is a lot more accurate, plus you can list current time, ETA, current speed all on the one window
When searching for a nearby point of interest (like a gas station) it will suggest them on your route, and also how far you'll need to detour off
Big screen, nice clean maps

Things I don't like:

The Tomtom's stand and car charger and integrated - the Navman's are still separate
I find the stand hard to get the unit into - I've had the Navman drop out a couple of times

Other than those two small things, I highly recommend.

I have the TomTom One XL - used it extensively through out the UK and now purchased the NZ maps; it works great

Second the TomTom One XL, very good unit, followed by s90i...
I wouldnt consider goldfinger...

The GO720 is really nice, nice additional features... which you may or may not use...

In my company car I have a Navman S60.

In my Mazda 121 I have a Tomtom Go 720.

The Navman is awful. What a pain to use. The Tomtom is easier to use, and better looking display, better quallity sound, brighter display and lots more.

The Navman turns on by itself with the ignition which is nice. Pity the TomTom doesnt :(

Aaaaah man, dont encourage me! I have an S30, nothing wrong with it, but the new ones by navman sound so dam appealing!!

My Go 720 has a nice windscreen mount that is totally seperate to the power cable.
