There is something that I don't get about modern GPS Technology.

For instance: NavMan is making Gps devices with features that have nothing to do with finding your way
around the country, such as Mp3 Player, Camera, Handsfree bluetooth mobile kit ECT...

This is just making you buy something that you wont use. thats why they invented iPods, Digital Cameras, Blueants
Mobile Phones.

The same thing is happening to Wireless Mobile phones and Landlines... ITS JUST A BUNCH OF STUFF WE DONT NEED!
(sure its handy but what ever happend to just using cellphones to call and text people and GPS's to find stuff.

Im on the Navman website now.... only GPS gear.
Where have you seen Navman mp3 players etc ?

Or do you mean MP3 players etc are starting to incorparate GPS chips in them ?
If the latter, then I dont see any problem with it, only people who want all that stuff in one unit will buy it, the others (like myself) will only purchase whats needed.

I think this is a good move. These devices are mainly for in-car navigation and less is better. It means you can have your music playing from its memory or SD card through your radio, or you can take the calls while driving using it as a handsfree. While in a car it is much better to have less things to worry about - would you worry about the GPS, another device for music playing, another one for taking calls, and so on?

And what about power? Many cars, if not most, have only one power source in the front dashboard (mine's got two). So not enough power for many devices - another example that less is better.

You can always buy the models with nothing but the navigation...

I agree, I have my GPS plugged directly into my headunit with the aux input, and can hence do navigation instructions, phone calls, and play MP3's from the GPS through the car speakers. No changing with inputs on the headunit or struggling to hear the GPS speaker over the radio. These extra features are what really made buying the unit worthwhile in my case.
