danielwheeler: Can the governments of our planet really track you via GPS, and if so is there a way to block them from tracking you?
freitasm: Hmmm. No. GPS is an one way only technology. GPS devices track satellites, not the other way around.chill. i know it's possible to track cell phones though, and the cops do it all the time here in the US for big investigations, so would cell phones be considered two way technology because you send and recieve information?
What you have to know is that when you use services such as the new Google Latitude or Yahoo! FireEagle then you are willingly sending your position to a third party server.

If you can feel any hard bony bits at the back of your heel chances are they implanted a tracking bug when you were born and are probably watching you now. The only thing you can do to prevent this is to wrap your head in tin foil.
There is one other extreme option which is to get hold of some paint that they used on the stealth bombers and coat yourself head to foot. The problem with this is the cost, about $2,000,000,000 a litre and the fact that you will attract attention walking down the street which is obviously what you want to avoid.
Is this somehow related to the motion sensor you wanted to set up in the corridor leading to your room?
freitasm: Mobile phones and GPS are very different technologies. They have to register with cell sites all the time and sometimes they register with multiple cell sites to make sure calls are moving from site to site.coll thanks
Based on the cell site timing, distance from each cell site reported by the phone it is easy to calculate the position of a mobile phone.
This is completely different from GPS technology.

I sometimes feel bony bits in my undies. Does this mean the government is using me as a random access device, and once when I was at home, someone rang me and knew that I was at home, creepy!

i know i sound paranoid, but dude, i'm just a sixteen year old kid trying to figure stuff out. the motion censor thing has to do with me and my digital electronics teacher trying to make a cool circuit. i live at home, and have no car, so i don't really worry about gps. if the gov wants to find me they will, why should i worry about anything.
i just wanna know more stuff.
kiwitrc:cool. i do sound a bit paranoid though.danielwheeler:kiwitrc:
