Hi all

Any suggestions why the Fritzbox 7390 Wireless speeds can be so up & down.

When running 'up' WIFI connection speeds are over 100Mbps.
Here is a screenshot of what I mean by 'down', 1 Mbps - which means SMART TV/File streaming wont work.

Important to note that this is WIFI only & not internet speed, even hosted files will buffer when usually they would play fine.

I am moving all to wired after cable run etc.

Are these connected at 5GHz or 2.4Gh? How many other networks are around this place?

I've just moved away from using the Fritz!Box wireless.

Found it to be very unreliable. I don't have many other networks around me and tried both 2.5 and 5 GHz without much joy.

Replaced it with a Apple AirPort Extreme with much better results.

Hi & Happy New Year.

Both 2.4 & 5, nothing assigned intentionally, I guess they switch between what they think is the best signal.

Samsung Note3, iPad, iPhone & Igloo on 5
Samsung S3, Note 8, iPod Touch & TV on 2.4
Soon'ish' the Igloo & TV will be wired.

Only one Network (at home). One 4port WLAN router (Frtiz) & one port goes to a non WLAN 4port switch in the lounge.
You can see the neighbours WIFI but its pretty weak & no access.

The only thing I got sick of on the Fritz was the wifi. I'm now using an AP from UniFi, I use the FritzFon app on my android phone and it works fine through the AP back to the FritzBox.

i found on the newer firmwares, wireless is very hit and miss.

seems to sit around their green technology, where it will scale its power right back till its needed.

What is the signal strength like of the devices connecting at 1Mbps?

How much wireless noise is around you?

I heard something about this, spoke to their help desk to see if I could override & where it was.
They said it was prioritising VOIP only.

Up to 5 bars. The same devices that had 1 bar when I posted, now have from 52 to 270 Mbps. its the intermittency which annoys me.
I don't know how to measure wireless noise. I would say it can be a lot if 8 wireless devices are a lot, only one WIFI signal though, aside from the neighbours.

if you simply ask them to downgrade you to .22 firmware you should be good.

Wlan tab, radio channel.. show interference.

grab a snap of that for 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz.

helps to actually set your channel rather than letting the fritz automatically pick it at boot.

Fritzbox 7390, FRITZ!OS 05.51. Wireless seems to work fine here, 5GHz for my S4 and 2.4GHz for the laptop and other Android phone. I've turned off all my other access points because I've placed it up high in the center of my house and it covers the whole house and property. Three rooms away through three walls my S4 gets 27Mbps on 5GHz, closer it gets 54Mbps.

I've forced it to 5ghz only and use another AP for 2.4. it's much more reliable like this, before the power saving caused switching between the two networks.

Mobile devices have the greatest problem with it, with them going into sleep mode and dropping out and repeatedly reconnecting. Don't use any of them on the fritz box now.

Thanks all - have a few things to test out.

Here are screens of the 2.4 & 5 ghz interference also, 4 wifi SSIDs in the same room as the router, 3 at zero bars which I havent seen before (I dont use WIFI in this room)
All at 2.4, so maybe to force to 5ghz as suggested above will help also.
or change channels also maybe
