I have been trying, with little success, to get Genius Go to work for me and have become increasingly frustrated. Even if I can answer the call on my mobile, the ringing continues throughout the call, making it hard to hear the caller.
All I want to do is to be able to use 2 degrees 'forward to mobile', to do this i need to port my current home number to 2 degrees and have a back up number with Orcon. Seems like it should be simple, but Orcon has said it can't be done. Is there an Orcon 'Geek' out there who can advise me on this please? I have UFB connection.
Thanks.

So if I read this right, you want to port away your voip number to 2Degrees, then order a second voip line afterward for a back up?

Thanks for replying....yes! It's only because Genius Go just doesn't seem to work for me (despite uninstalling etc numerous times).
Is it possible?

Can I please grab your account number (via PM) and that is something I'll have to ask our fiber team - my first feeling is it is probably not possible, but I can certainly pose the question anyway

I have sent an email to our Fiber team for them to see if this is at all possible. If your end goal is to get your home calls on your mobile, I have a few alternate suggestions for you which may be a better solution to your problem.

  • You could perminantly set up a call forwarad to your mobile from your home, which would have a monthly charge unfortuna
  • You could leave the phone line as it is, and then just order a different phone line through 2 Degrees
  • Or you could lodge a fault and let us try to solve the issue with the Genius Go.

Either way I'll post back here when the Fiber team gets back to me.

Hi Rubu,

I've been working with the app developer on the "ringing continues" issue - unfortunately it is an issue with iOS7 itself, and affects other VoIP software such as Skype also.

Good news is, as we have recently discovered, there is a workaround - when you hear the ringing notification, click volume up or down button first which will stop the notification sound, then swipe to answer.

Please give this a try and let us know how you get on.  We understand that the issue may be fixed completely in iOS8, due in a couple of months time.

Also just to let you know, there's a new version of the app coming for iOS very soon, which looks and works better on iOS7 than the current app.

Cheers

Dan
