Hi,

I have just had UFB installed and have Ethernet wired through the house. The Netcomm NF4V is connected to a port in the kitchen and working fine.

I have two questions:

1: Is it possible to have this still working in the kitchen and setup the Linksys WRT1900AC to form another wireless network in the house from another Ethernet jack by the TV?

2: If not, what settings do I need to put into the Linksys router to get it working instead of the Netcomm?

I have tried a simple swap out of the Netcomm for the Linksys with some settings that I have read from others here, but it is still not working. I have setup VLAN 10 and DCHP, but it is still not connecting.

Has anyone had any experience with doing the above and/or setting up a WRT1900AC that they can help with?

Some more info:

The fibre modem is setup in the garage and is a: Huawei EchoLife HG8240.

I didn't set this up initially, but I have added another patch cable from port 2 of the Huawei to liven up the port in the lounge room. The Linksys router can now see a network through its WAN port, but is still unable to connect.

Perfectly normal to need another wireless AP but you need to connect a LAN port on the NPF4 to a LAN port on the Linksys. Disable the DHCP server on the Linksys - leave that to the NPF4. I give the second AP an IP address in the same subnet as the rest of the network. My second AP is behind the TV as well.

Hi Linw,

Thank you for the reply. That would be the worst case senario, as I don't want to run a LAN cable through the lounge room to connect the two devices. I would rather do away with the NPF4 altogether, but I couldn't work out how to setup the WRT1900AC to work in its place

Thikning about it though, if all else fails and gets too frustrating, I will patch the lounge room one to the first port of the Huawei and simply put both routers in the one area and disable the wireless on the NPF4.
