As a follow on to my thread about IP address changing and disconnects I would like to get some advice on ADSL modems.
Currently I am using a D-LINK DSL-G604T, which I suspect may be the cause of the problems I am experiencing.
I have a TP-Link W8960N, but it also raises some issues: my son maintains that a number of the sites he uses cease to function or function very slowly when we use the TP-Link, and it does take a while to establish a connection when it is first set up.

Based on what I've read the ZyXEL Prestige 660M looks a good bet bet it does not seem to be readily available in NZ.

I'd be grateful for any input, advice or info.

Thanks in advance.

the TP-Link TD-W8960N is a good modem/router.
I'd do a full reset of it and start again if you are having connection issues. Using one here with absolutely no problems. Usually establishes a usable adsl connection from boot in under sixty seconds for me.

Got the W8960 up and running.

Still get the occasional disconnect from the problem site but at least with the W8960N I have a working log which should make it easier to track the fault.

So far all I've seen is "user.crit kernel eth2 link down" but so far I've been unable to track down exactly what that means
