Greetings!

I just got myself connected to UFB and I've been dumped on with this horrible Huwei router. I figured this wouldn't do; so I dug up my NetGear GS108T and my TPLink TDW9980 and thought I'd configure a VLan10 (untagged) and attach the router.

I can't for the LIFE of me get it to work - what am I missing? Has anyone had any experience connecting a switch / router as a replacement?

You're with Orcon and got a Huawei router?

You need VLAN10 tagged, not untagged on the WAN port.

Many many posts on VLAN 10 tagging on here if you use the search box. You'll need to confirm if either of those two routers actually have that feature as it isn't standard on all consumer gear.

For your TDW9980, this thread still appears to hold true, so certainly as you have attempted you would need to bridge the vlan tagging to another device. http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=66&topicid=165647

Using the GS108T as an intermediate device to tag the WAN port is certainly an option however..

Ild double check your switch is tagging the outside pointing interface correctly, secondly that you have configured things on the router side correctly.

You sir are a scholar. I miss read the tagging functions of the router (stupid mistake it has been a while). I have it working with the Genius router now which is much better for my network. The issue I have is I'm unsure if the authentication type for Orcon is PPPoE or DHCP.

The Vlan connection and tagging works (clearly) but the router configuration seems to be my problem now.

Regardless; thanks for the help.
