Hi,

ONT had already been installed by Chorus (for previous occupier) but they popped over anyway and made sure was all ok i.e. plugged the new Orcon modem in.

Everything was turned on and was told by the Chorus technician to call Orcon as they had to do some stuff to get the service running (basically whatever wasn't working at that stage was not their problem).

Having called Orcon still no sign of internet. On the modem the WAN light is on but the internet light is dead. (DSL light flashes intermittently even though the building is new and has no copper). On the ONT power and optical are green. Lan1 is orange.

I've been on the phone a several times to Orcon (to various different divisions it seems.... ), reset the modem, cycled things off etc. No help at all. Some note has been made and they may call me.... in 48-72 hours.... but given process to date I'm doubtful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Orcon are you out there? (I've had problems before and Orcon has resolved things immediately but this is really getting slack....)

I need to get back online to sort various website work before xmas close down. Who'd thought I'd be so reliant on the internet..... I guess we all are...

Keep an eye on it. It should flash at some point. Staying solid green could possibly be an issue with the SLID. I.E. It's wrong.

Could be Chorus, or Orcon, or both. Chorus doesn't actually have any fibre troubleshooting tools available for ISPs yet, all your ISP can do is guess where the problem is. So these problems can take a while to fix.

Any idea how to expedite the repairs?
I know the previous tennant had fibre working fine.
They simply took their modem.
So it was working on Spark

Chorus will need to provision a new connection for you when you switch the fibre to Orcon. That might have gone wrong. Or Orcon didn't set up their end properly. All you can do is put pressure on Orcon. (Can't really blame the techs, most of them don't have the tools to test a fibre connection either.)
