I moved house a few months ago (I had fibre at my old address), and when I moved into my new house I had to wait 2 months for the fibre to be re-connected. MR got VDSL connected temporarily so I had Internet which was fine.
2 weeks ago my fibre finally got connected, after 3 visits from Chrous over the span of a week. The problem is, I'm not getting any more than 80Mbit/s on my UFB connection.
I have the same router, same setup as my previous address. All Cat6 cables, PC is connected to router at 1Gbit, Router to ONT at 1Gbit (Yellow LED). As I got a free upgrade to Gigabit from my 200Mbit plan, I should be seeing far more than 80Mbit/s. I got pretty close to 200Mbit at my old address through the same setup.
After the switch, VDSL is still connected (Chrous disconnected it the same day at my previous address when the fibre got connected, but for some reason left it connected here). I called MR and they said the DSL would be removed. Now when I turn the VDSL modem on, it's still syncing the VDSL but at least has no Internet light come on.
I'm wondering, if VDSL is still provisioned for my address, will that impact my fibre speed? It was just a hunch, but I'm now assuming that, because VDSL is still provisioned by Chorus, my UFB can not exceed the provisioning for VDSL (around 80Mbit/s) on the Chorus network.
