Hi
we have two sites, both on 2degrees UFB.
Is it possible to connect a SIP phone at location 2 to the VOIP service at location 1?

If you put a VPN connection between the two sites, then yes. I do this when I am away from home - my laptop opens an OpenVPN connection into my network and then can use a softphone program to connect to my FritzBox.
Doing it directly through the firewall may be possible but I never got it to work reliably from my cellphone. I did get a connection, but sometimes calls would work and sometimes not, and there were echo problems. Since I did not actually need to have that work, I did not try very hard to work out what the problems were.
Hi @rorzer,
A VPN is even a bit over the top in this case! Our VOIP service is accessible anywhere you have an internet connection, so you just need to have an VOIP client with the right settings.
At location 1 you could have our 2degrees Fritz!Box with a landline phone, and then also have an SIP phone (could also be a Fritz!Box) at location 2 using the same phone number with both ringing at the same time. In fact, you could set up a VOIP client on your mobile phone and take the landline with you anywhere!
Please be aware, however, that we can only provide limited support/troubleshooting when you're using a 3rd-party VOIP App or SIP phone, but there's nothing stopping you setting it up as long as you're OK to troubleshoot yourself.
Feel free to send us a PM if you're needing the settings for your landline :)
Cheers, ^BRM

What an excellent, supportive answer. It's the first I've seen from any of the big 3 that's open to the option and enables it's operation - normally it's the tiddlers or the 2nd/3rd tiers that openly support modern connection.
I assume this is open to personal customers too, and not just business?

Yep! Any customers with a VOIP phone line have the ability to use it with a 3rd-party device :)
