OK i'm just coming off free home line plan for 12 months at around $80 bucks a month now i have been told the new plan is $129 a month, and yet i can go to vodaphone and slingshot will do the same deal for $90, Am i missing something here.
I'm quite happy with orcon but seriously are people really going to pay another $40 dollars a month, If the competitions service is not quite as high {I don;t know if this is the case} its still $40 bucks a month.
Really if you can give me a good reason let me know i don't want to change but i don't like being played for a fool either otherwise unless theres a price change in the next three weeks i'll be going.

Can u get Orcon LLU? Silver+ is 80$ with phone line and 5GB ? Add another 25GB for 20$ thats 100 a month?

NO not in the area and could be years before we are because not in auckland,so 20 gb plan $129.95 including national calls which i dont want and extra gb twice the price of the new system.
I'm assuming that orcon are focusing on custormers for the new system and are quite happy to realease everyone else by pricing themselves out of the market as i can't see why they would sit there prices more than 30% higher than the competition.

Yes my son was on that plan too and he has decided to give it the flick because of the new price. He has decided to go the same way I have gone and that is naked dsl with a voip phone service. This is a cheaper alternative and it does work just as well as a standard phone line.

There are several options for those people moving off the free homeline promotion.

I strongly suggest you check on our website what plans you are eligible for, as you may be able to get much better value from one of our new plans. The $129 price point is just to maintain exactly the same plan that you currently have.

If you are able to get service on Vodafone's Red Network, then you would also have been eligible for one of our unbundled plans. They offer great value, and I would encourage anyone considering switching to compare our plans with theirs.

I wanted to stay with Orcon, but every suburb around me had been unbundled expect mine. I was told by an Orcon CSR that there was no plan's to unbundle my exchange. Thats the reason I switched to Vodafone, to get ADSL2.

I challenge you to find a reasonable deal on orcon the only plans are $39.95 for 500mb another $45 for home phone then another $40 for 20 gb at $2 a gb,Or $109 for 10gb and phone then $20 for another 10 gb.

where as on vodaphone $90 for 20gb and home phone or slingshot $90 for 15gb and free off peak and home phone.
if i could get similar for around $100 i would stay but $110 for 10gb is not even close but if you have a solution that would be great.

Good point, I found no Orcon plans that came close to other ISP's. They seem to be pricing themselves out of the market.

I have compared LLU plans, and Orcon won then (but that's before Silver+ came along...)

I'm also in the same situation with the free phone line deal finishing, I've opted for the silver+ plan but 5GB is not really enough. The data blocks as mentioned earlier is a huge jump. the silver+ plan would be a good option if it was say 10GB for $79.95 with the $1 a GB on top of that would be $89.95 a month for 20GB.

But will be switching to Vodafone $90 for FS/FS + 20GB + phone is great value.

It only wins because you've included national minutes, mobile calling and smartphone features. If people don't use them, they don't offer extra value. I was on Gold+ but changed to Silver+ as soon as it came along. It means I'm saving $15 per month compared to Gold+, which is I suppose what the national calling was "costing" if you think of it that way. I do use smartphone features, so find Silver+ good value.

I don't think the 25GB minimum add on is that big a jump. It costs $20 which is only just less than $1/GB casual rate. If 25GB is too much, you can just pay the casual rate instead and it's not much different. You couldn't expect, for example, 10GB for $9 or something. Defeats the purpose of the casual rate a little and doesn't offer much saving.

For Non LLU areas You can get a basic phoneline, 25.5 GBs of Data, FS/128 connection for $108 per month inc. GST - No Contract so in 3 months when something better comes along you're not stuck with a Vodafone deal that now seems "priced out of the market".
