I recently changed form a Telstra to Telecom home phone, and to keep my Telstra number it was ported over.
I then tried to call Slingshot and sign up for their BB service, only to be informed that a ported number simply would not work.
My Telecom line is a Telecom line, and whether or not I have ported this number from Telstra should not hinder my ability to get Broadband.

Has anyone else tried this? Have any luck? Was the CSR mis-informed? I have been informed by Telecom that there should not be any problem in doing this as the number is on their network.

Update:

Ported numbers can indeed be used.

I think I just came across a CSR who had tried connecting a ported number previously which didn't work so assumed it wasn’t possible.

You just have to push them and ask them to "give it a go". I’m all up and running and enjoying the free off-peak data!
