Last month I moved in to a brand new house only about 600m from the local exchange which is unbundled so I was able to get onto the Orcon+ network and receive speeds of around 10-12mbps.
However when it first got installed every time the phoneline rung or was in use (which is also with orcon) it cut off the broadband connection. I tried several new filters without any luck then i realised if i just plug the router directly into the phone jack the broadband only sometimes disconnects when the phoneline is in use. Since then ive had ongoing problems with the line, caller id fails to work sometimes, the phone often rings 3 or 4 rings then the person on the other end receives static crackle noises before it hangs up on them it doesnt even put them through to my mailbox. If I ring out there is no noise on the line and outwards calls seem to work fine.
Ive rung orcon several times now and requested for a tech to visit but not getting anywhere fast! This week I rang back again and the guy did a line reset since then my broadband speed has dropped to around 1-2mbps as well as this the phone line either puts people straight thru to my mailbox when they try to call in or it rings 3 or 4 rings then they receive a noise like a fax machine trying to pick up the call. Ive tried having my broadband router unplugged but it makes no difference to what people experience when they call in. Im now sick of waiting for orcon to send out a tech and get it sorted!
