Something happens after MAY

I have used Orcon to play WOW for past years

It actually works quite well the latency about 200-300ms

but it is going laggin and very unstable after this MAY

I have test my oversea bandwidth only left about 0.5 to 1M

to sydeny
to LA(USA)
or to Hongkong
whereever, the oversea bandwidth going worst during the peak

especially during peak time (after 5pm to 11pm)

I have told Orcon and dicuss what is going on while I connect to oversea and play WOW

the latency going to very bad and unstable after 5pm to 11pm, but

Orcon they give me a official answer which is the local loop is good with no problem

my connection is in excellent condition, we do lots local bandwidth testing which is okay and passed

the final answer is the oversea exchange side is going something's wrong

they said they can do nothing about this .... so I'm quite upset

anyone can suggest which service provider may offer better and stable oversea bandwidth during the peak?

Why is this same thing quoted over and over? We know that Orcon have posted a status ... almost two weeks ago for that matter. It's just rediculous how long it's taking to amend and for whatever reason, it's poor. I've been here before with Orcon and it took 2+ months to fix (go go shaping BS anyone? More like backhaul issues? Or was it lack of donuts? Excuses were far and wide).

Example ... tonights connection to a WoW Oceanic server (and others) = 1000-2000ms latency in game. Terrible. I'm not even going to bother contacting the Orcon support people to be told to reset my modem and run trace routes to servers etc. It's pure step-by-step Q&A sheets for the lose and like everyone, I do it as my own testing before calling anyone else.

Maybe it's Blizzard? Doubtful as my son is with Telecom connecting to the same server at 300ms or less. But who knows right ...

They are BS okay, I am almost started laggin on the end of April !!!

It doesn't like Orcon said happened on 28 MAY

they just "FOUND" something's wrong on 28 MAY

or admit the things happened (so they apologise)

which does not present the actual happened date, the problem happens

more earlier then that BS date 28 MAY

So. Tonight. 1000ms to 5000ms latency in WoW to an Oceanic server (yes I know they're in LA). Completed all of the necessary steps pre-phone call to Orcon. Get told they'll send out their nifty tool ... gg trace routes etc and it hasn't arrived yet. Ventrilo lag and WoW lag ... seem familiar? This has happened before. Meanwhile my son on Telecom, is raiding a 25 :\

I'm in Wellington by the way and am used to 200ms to 350ms to the WoW servers ... this is terrible. Go on ... blame the rain ... sheesh. On a side note, last night ALL was fine, and I read somewhere else here on Geekzones Orcon forums that there are known issues that Telecom and Orcon are "working on" but have yet to come to a resolution. Well if they did anything last night, they're royally screwed something down this end imo.

Please, please for the love of god ... improve!

(please ignore this rant if there are evil mice in my exchange eating wires).

If it is an international routing problem upstream and out of Orcon's control try wowtunnels, there are multi different servers to try that may route around problem.

I logged a call last night via the 0800 and completed all isolation tests etc etc and sent back test results using the "Orcon tool". The guy on the phone was very helpful .. well as helpful as he could be I guess :)

Anyway, my biggest issues with WoW and Ventrilo latency started on Wednesday night, but sky rocketed last night. Web browsing is jerky sometimes as well. So any changes over the "last few days" haven't made a single bit of difference to me. IN FACT, OI! OI! OI! ... maybe these changes are what have screwed me over, as prior to Wednesday night, my connections were sub 400ms constantly! Check that one out please!?!?

So, Wednesday night I was getting up to 2000ms latency in game to any server - I did this to test between Blizz's two datacentre's etc. Thursday night I was getting (at worst) close to 6000ms in game and disconnected upon any in-game activity e.g. attacking a boss = BOOMGONE! (disconnected). Logging back in in Dalaran = BOOMGONE! (disconnected).

I'm on an older "Pro" 15GB max/max plan, and I connect in Wellington to my exchange at ADSL2+ with approx 18mb down and 1mb up (thanks Telecom), though beyond that connection and the exchange I'm not sure what Orcon does. No + plans here apparently? I did before Wednesday get anywhere between 250 and 400ms latency in game which is decent enough really. And way back when I signed up with orcon I was getting 200ms to 250ms constantly. Downhill trends don't give me confidence, especvially when the last two nights have been "down hill and over the cliff". I'm quite confident I'll go home tonight and see much of the same.

On a side note, I just noticed Telecom have an ADSL2+ Pro plan with max/max 40GB data and a static IP address for free (when you ask for it) !!! Oh and also interleaving is off on this plan unless otherwise requested. Not too shabby imo. Hmmmmm ... maybe the ADSL2+ connection I'm getting at the exchange will actually be that with them!? (hyuck hyuck hyuck).

Seriously, Orcon, you are decent, but the major issues you've been having over the last year or so are worrying. Dealing with your business partners and other third parties surely can't be that bad? (handover links etc for example).

*EDIT* PS: I should also state that after midnight (ish) the latency dropped substantially - almost back to decent. Around 350ms+ ... peak time QQ?

Yes, I play wow and the lags was bad from the start of May... Its still terrible now, lag spiking to 2.5k ping at the moment.

Its just not wow thats lagging too, vent or going to some internation sites are terribly slow too.
I just found it funny from orcon's status page they said: "This has particularly become an issue this week as our customers had their data allowance reset after billing on the 23rd of May, which means that they begin using a lot of data again." and we had this problem long before 23rd of May.
