Anyone have any advice on dealing with Slingshiot? I've got a list of complaints about as long as my arm -but long story short, they cut off my phone twice because of poor communication on their part, broadband was unusable, and their customer service is so bad I can't describe it.
I've switched providers, but now need to dispute fees etc - was wondering if anyone had a name or number for a person who can actually sort things out.

I know they are terrible right, it's almost funny how unprofessional they are.

I've ended up with a charge of $402 for the "privilege" of a month and a half of vast amounts of anger. I made a "Slingsh*t" fb and everything o.o
I'm not usually an angry person at all, but they have pushed all my buttons.
When the woman taking my (very angry) complaint asked me for my desired outcome, I included a formal letter of apology - and I better get it! /seethe

Have you tried contacting them via twitter (@slingshotnz)?
I haven't had any issues as serious as you, but when i have had repeated trouble with their CSRs I twittered them and began email dialouge with their brand manager, which was very successful.

Hope it all works out for you!

They cut my phone off in error a month ago. Still not reconnected. I get sick of 60+ minute waits to talk to someone. I don't see why it is so hard to reconnect an italk line!

Thanks for the twitter suggestion, I'll definitely give it a go :)
I'm going to make a lot of noise, and generally be as much of a pain in the "donkey" (lolcensor) as possible. Wish me luck.

Keep a record of what you have done and then complain to the commerce commission as well if you get no joy.

My poor old (80 year old) mother in law still swears that Telecom rang her and told her they could save her money by putting her on a better plan. She agreed finally and the next day the internet went dead. She called Telecom and they told her the account had been moved to someone else.
Turned out it was slingshot. Telecom asked her if she wanted to come back to them and she said yes.
A few days later the internet was reconnected back to Telecom (I gather the phone part is pretty much instant. The internet was never used (couldnt be - no login details etc ever supplied).

Anyway - then the letters and bills started arriving from Slingshot.
My wife rang them and they didnt seem to be at all helpful - finally someone agreed that  they shouldnt have been still billing and promised to call back. They never did.
More bills and my wife phoned Slingshot again and they kept saying that they had no notification that Telecom had taken the account back. They agreed there had been zero traffic on Slingshot though. They refused to check with Telecom - reckoned it wasnt their issue.

Finally my wife (getting very hot and bothered) rang Telecom and they said they certainly had record of notifying Slingshot and said they would send another copy of that notice - Telecom were very helpfull.

Finally the bills seem to have stopped - but there are accumulated charges now - and they wont back down on early termination (what about the door to door sales act?).
They have also sent the bill to debt collection as well (seems to be outsourced) - and just try getting hold of someone!!! Finally they have put a flag on the account that says they wont talk to anyone now - so they refuse to discuss it.

Wife has sent a formal complaint to Slingshot and the Commerce Commision - The ComCom has since called back and said they wish to investigate.

Thats disgusting. Slingshot doesnt even seem to care about its brand anymore.

Slingshot customer service are unable to undertake the simplest of customer requests without simply cocking it up and leaving you the customer high and dry.And that is a Fact!

Anyone with complaints, contact the Commerce Commission. I have and got called back and need to write a formal statement later this month!

My Woes:
Signed up for XT Network plan

- Got charged on first bill for 2 months in advanced, then got that charged back
- Cancelled my data plan due to slow speeds, didn't take effect, got charged 2 months in advance for that...managed to get that back
- cancelled my text plan since I wasn't using it, didn't take effect, got charged 2 months ni advance for that...also managed to get it back
- just got a letter saying I owe money on my account and they'll cancel the phone in 10 days time unless paid. Even though the Visibill says I owe $0.58c!!!! which when I try to pay it asks for $48 off my credit card

I'm about ready to throw in the towel and move my calling/text/data to 2degrees, just need to figure out how to port my number over without paying for the rest of the plan/hardware for Slingshot...

[Mod (N8): Please use proper plan names]

Funnily enough, at the same time as me, my sister signed up with Slingshot in Wellington. Completely different issue to me - 6 weeks waiting to be connected, until she finally went back to Telecom. And today she was told she was being billed - not just an early disconnection fee either, but the entire 6 weeks of "service"
So, question: Does NZ's legal system include class action suits, or an equivalent?

I have been called by comcom like vinnieg about 'xt network' promotion.

I think they have a lot coming for them very soon, they have screwed up on many fronts and not atempted to put things right at all, i think comcom will give them a wakeup call *

*Entirely an uninformed opinion

Um, It was the Slingshot XT NotWork, sorry N8, that's the actual call plan name :) definitely not with XT.  Have moved from XT to Slingshot.  I have no problems with the XT network, just with Slingshots XT mobile plan

"Slingshot XT N0TWORK offer is still available"
http://www.slingshot.co.nz/default.aspx?p=242

The deal is 20 free minutes, 100 free text.  If only I could turn back time and go back to XT or 2degrees now, but I have another 5 months of Slingshot pain ahead,

This is what enticed most of us over:
