Hi
I've just purchased a Tripoli Dual Sim cellphone from China. I can text ok but not use the other functions.
Any suggestions on how I set it up.

Hi,
If you struggled with manually configuring/using menus etc - - -
here are some generic instructions that seems to work for Chinese (dual SIM) iphone lookalikes
I've included MMS setup

First thing to do, go to Menu > Services > Data Account > GPRS and Create or Edit 2 profiles.
Name the first profile as 2degrees wap with the following settings:
 APN  2degrees
Username blank
Password  blank
Authentication type  Normal

Second profile would be named as 2degrees mms with the following settings:
 APN  mms
 Username  blank
 Password  blank
 Authentication type  normal

Once those are created, to setup Internet on your phone, go to Services > WAP > Settings
Choose the slot the 2degrees SIM card is
 Edit profile
Create a new profile or edit a current profile
Name  2degrees wap
Homepage  http://m.2degreesmobile.co.nz
Data account  GPRS - 2degrees wap (as created above)
Connection type  HTTP
- When you press okay on HTTP on connection type you will get the following proxy options:
enter proxy address - 118.148.001.118
enter proxy port - 8080
Save the changes then Activate the profile

To setup the phone for MMS, go to Messages > MMS > Message settings > Server Profile
Choose the slot the 2degrees SIM card is
Create a new profile or edit a current profile
Edit profile
Name  2degrees mms
MMSC address  http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090
Data account  GPRs - 2degrees mms (as created above)
Connection type  HTTP
- When you press okay on HTTP on connection type you will get the following proxy options:
enter Proxy address 118.148.001.118
enter proxy port 8080
Save the changes then Activate the profile

Awesome - thank you very much....with some fiddling I found it all....best advice.

My only problem now is setting up the mail to my gmail account - it asks for pop setting and I think gmail only does IMAP.

You can use pop. But you have to login to Gmail first to configure it under settings.
Then use pop.gmail.com on your phone
Instructions here are for iphone, but you may be able to work it out for your phone from them

And how to enable pop
