Hello

I recently had to colocate my adsl2 modem in my providers exchange in order to obtain high speed since the lines to my office were very bad. The connection is then piped through a 802.11n bridge (67mbps real throughput) to my office 2.2km away from the exchange.

I have been on the 4/1mbps shared package for about a year now and during the period before colocation i was getting a maximum of 1.5mbps downstream. After colocation I am now getting a max of 2.6mbps with sometimes 3.1mbps burst. I tested these values late in the night on the isolated line.

I would be most grateful if folks can take a look at my line stats from my modem and advise. A detaliled explanation of the metrics especially FEC, CRC, Total ES, Total SES, Total UAS, H.Real, H.Image, QLN, Hlog

with kind regards

Interesting that your attainable rate is 27000 and your actual is 4000. I'd try a different modem or perhaps you're now too close to the exchange?

Your ISP will be able to get the line profile changed if that is the case to one with a lower power, can help sync rates in some cases.

Also how on earth did you get them to put your equipment into the exchange, sounds highly irregular.

Sounds more like he co-locating the modem at his ISP's facility than in the Telecom exchange/cabinet?

So something like
Customer > Wireless > ISP colocation > phone line > Exchange/Cabinet

If you have wireless to your ISP's facility why not just buy an Internet service from them instead of ASDL?

my ISP specifically caps my speed at 4mbps down and 1mbps up and bundles it as a package although my modem can support approx 27mbps down.

Since I colocated my modem to the exchange my down SNR has improved from -18 to -43. but there seem to be no increase in the up SNR it still fluctuates around -10 to -12. I used to be 2.8km away from the exchange.

Attenuation also has droped from 27 to 3.5 now.

Any clues why there is no change the up SNR even after moving to the exchange?
