My slingshot internet has been down since yesterday afternoon. Basically my modem can get a good ADSL sync, but keep showing PPP down.

I have tried another router and line splitter, but no luckUndecided.

I understand they are claiming slingshot customers may experiencing 'slower than usual broadband speed', but I can't even get the slightest internet going!

Been trying to call them...but nobody answers the phone...figured might just ask around here if anybody is experiencing the same while I am holding the line.

BTW I live in Auckland.

Cheers.

Try calling them on a cell phone as you get quicker service. SS had a small outage yesterday and there current network status message only says dialups having issues.

Thanks for the tip!

I finally got through their support line. They are 'rebooting' ATM service for me. And it may take up to 24 hours...It seems very likely I'll have to get out of my basement and endure an internet-less weekend.

Previous times when have experienced the same fault it ended up being a fault at the local exchange, perhaps that may be a cause.

I had a while yesterday with sync and no ppp. Came right after a while. was either me taking dsl down and back or it coming right on its own.

Again tonight PPP dropout etc. Not sure if its the new cabinet or slingshot but performance is crap even to the next hop when tracing if I am downloading, so its looking more backhaul than slingshot, gonna call them tomorrow if it does it again and see what they plan to do about it.

Working fine for me in Parnell at 9:57PM. Not noticed any problems this evening, and I am sure my kids would let me know quick smart if there were any issues!

Basically dead at the moment. Google not loading, yahoo not loading, my own website taking 20-30 seconds to load the most basic page in the world.

iptraf on the firewall shows the download speed getting up to 600kB/sec on the cached torrents, then it just drops to 10-15 - showing 600 packets a sec outgoing and the incoming gets down to about 80 packets - slowly works its way back up to a normal speed, then plummets again.

That was done with just a few torrents running and they were doing the pausing thing I said above.
