Hello,

I have a Dynalink 1025w adsl2+ router and I am on the Orcon @ Home Bronze plan.

My router reports Line rate: 15234 Downstream and 620 Upstream.
Attainable rate: 24796 Downstream and 616 Upstream.

When I do a speedtest at speedtest.net my download peaked at 4.64Mbps download and 0.53Mbps upload.

Seems pretty slow to me based on the info from my router.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this poor performance?  Should I get Orcon to check my connection?

Regards,
Steven.

hahaha fair enough. It's 10:40pm now and my download speed test is now reporting 7.5Mbps.

Not sure how fast it is at 5am, too early for me :)

Nope, that's about 7x faster than dialup.

NZ websites like trademe are running worse than if I were on Dial-up and most of the international sites I go to like guru3d and tech power up are even worse it reminds me of the 9600 baud days and BBSing

Hi Steven, so if you check your modems stats page, is there a large number of errors, just trying to see if the DSL leg of your connection is suffering large packet loss due to some interference. If there is just a small % of errors (there is always some) then talk to Orcon as its not your DSL connection.

By the way the 500kb/s upload on a 620k sync is normal there is a TCP/ATM overhead that soaks about 20% of the raw rate, this applies to downlink also.

Hi, while your there the other stats like line attenuation and noise margin would be good, just gives us an idea of link health.
