I have a telecom R6 which is connected to 2 deg, the phone is rubbish and I should not have
bought it the screen is full of dust and you can barely read it but that is not the problem. When l
travel from my area to another it appears to drop off line it still says it has full coverage and unless you
attempt to use it you would not know it wasn't working. To fix it you remove the battery and replace after 30m sec but of course you don't always think to do this each time you go to a different site.2 deg gave me another sim which made no diference so I returned the phone and it was replaced after waiting 6
weeks. But the new phone also does it.So now I have the problem 2 deg says its the phones problem and phone people say its a 2deg problem and all I know is its my problem.Has any one else
encounted this.As I am rural it is mostly opperating on Vodophone network

I don't get why people purchase the cheapest handset and want top handset performance

I dont think expecting it to actually work as a phone from more than one location is expecting
top hand set performance,I use this particular phone only for phone calls and texts so I required
no other functions but I did expect it to do that.

Save yourself the headache, just cut your losses and buy a phone FROM 2degrees to use on THEIR network. Then you have full support from them if something goes wrong. As it is, probably no one from either Telecom or 2degrees will (rightly or wrongly) want to help you much more than they have so far.

Hi, I believe the R6 operates on the 850/2100Mhz frequencies (ours is 900/2100Mhz) so it's probably dropping out when you're outside the 2100 3G signal.

If you're looking for a new handset check this out - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/paymonthly/freehandset. ;-)

This is why the end user should be trying SIM in another make and model handset,

Agreed ... preferably a 2degrees handset, ;-) ... but that's up to the customer.

I thought Telecom had the best rural performance in the country. If rural is most important to you maybe you should switch to Telecom.

Its all relative to where you actually are, so the simple solution is always to go with the Telco who provides the best coverage 'where you are' (and/or where you work)

I live in central otago and telecom does have best coverage but I live directly below
a telecom tower and have very poor coverage but the Vodafone tower is on
the hill opposite me so I get great coverage from that unfortunately my
business is on the other side of the valley where I get good telecom coverage but
poor vodophone. This problem always happens when I travel to Dunedin on vodophone and move from site to site.
It has also happens in Wanaka also vodophone .But no problem travelling to and around Christchurch which has 2 deg also no problem in Queenstown which has 2 deg

Dude. Full stops. Learn to use them. Your post is really hard to read, you'll get more help if you make it easy for people to help you.

Lets split the information here...

You live in a region where there is no "native" 2degrees coverage, therefore you roam on Vodafone.

Vodafone uses 2G (not supported by your handset) and 900/2100 MHz (only partially supported by your handset).

Seriously, you should either use the handset on Telecom. Or switch to Vodafone and use a Vodafone handset.

That would solve your problems.
