Hi All,
We signed up to Orcon Genius some weeks ago and were given a transfer date of 11 August. Our ph was duly cut off and we plugged the Genius in, neither the ADSL light nor the Internet light would go solid blue. After many hours on the Orcon helpline which takes intestinal fortitude to get through they finally decided after several days we needed a technician. A chorus tech turned up, checked our line and decided it was because the ph line was wired to go via the alarm first (we've had broadband on the same line for years), so he fixed that and whammo, the lights lit up and we were away.
When I got home from work next day the phone had stopped working, Internet was fine. Orcon called me to say they could see the ph wasn't working and we could work through some steps to rectify it. 5 mins later the phone was still dead and now so was the Internet!
After numerous attempts at different things they decided the modem was at fault and needed to be replaced. The new modem was promised following day but took another 4 days to show up.
Modem number 2 is doing the exact same thing. No phone, no Internet.
We have tried 2 modems in 3 different computers with 2 different operating systems. They cannot be factory hardset, as in, nothing happens when we try, they cannot be accessed by the browser, just get a 'page cannot be displayed' message.
Orcon have now decided it's the modems fault (again) and yet another has apparently been dispatched.
Although not completely out of the question it seems a little odd that what once would work now doesn't and we've been unlucky enough to get two faulty modems???
My concerns are we will receive a 3rd, and possibly 4th modem as no-one can tell me if number 3 was definitely ordered so to be on the safe side number 4 has also been ordered, but they may not fix the issue!
To ring Orcon is frustrating, time consuming and ultimately futile as their answer seems to be to just send out a new modem!
We are on day 11 with no phone and no Internet and patience is wearing thin!
If anyone has anything they could offer by way of things to try we would be endlessly grateful!
Might be time to start researching new ISPs!
