Well I starting to get annoyed with this prioritising and throttling.

Im trying to download an update from lg 100mb it started out 1.3mbs per second then got throtlled to 73kbs yes 75kbs its going to take 20mins to download.
This is sub par on speed now with the new plans.. Just like Voip , gaming and streaming I should be able to get what I need at a reasonable speed.

I last docket was "You reference number is 3726856"

Hi guys

our broadband connection got switched off, probably my own fault. This is what I did.

I was on the website yesterday, I activated something called "Activate free dial up", becuase I thought it was a bonus free dial up account to use when I am away, a few hours later our broadband got disconnected. I contacted Slingshot, to ask if they could please repair the damage, the woman refused to speak "For legal reasons" becuase I wasn't the account holder. (I'm the one who does most of the account stuff, I have phoned sky for problems, and I have never had problems.) They even refused to speak to my mother.
Anyway, in the evening, my father (The account holder) phones them up, after about 10 minutes on hold, they tell him It will be up withing 24 hours. I was extremely annoyed, becuase I had missed a conference call on Skype this morning becuase of that. Anyway, my father phones Slingshot, not 100% sure what they told him, but they said it may take longer then the inital 24 hour period that we got given.

The bottom line is, on the slingshot website, the activate free dial up thing, isn't clear enough. If I had known it would overwrite our broadband account, I wouldn't have signed up for it.

Is there any of you here, that maybe work for slingshot, that can help us get our broadband connection up and running, for almost 12 hours now, I have had nothing but the worst quality dial up possible, and it's really getting frustrating.

If you call the helpdesk they might be able to advise the reason why your speeds are so bad.

Well making torrents that ARE NOT cached go a bit faster would be nice.

They going at a crawl right now. The other week international seeds were fairly fast. Could pull over 100 kb/s up to 300 kb/s. But I guess thats been stopped ?

i have tried to contact you tonight but all there is is stupid automated messages

My entire house has been having slow internet slow web browsing and youtube been slow as hell.
sometimes its been fast and then slow again, fast speeds cant last for more than 5 mins

Please explain why my internet has been slow

I'm having trouble watching youtube clips at 2 am when off-peak hours start. 40 seconds of any video I try to watch loads then it just stops completely and I have to reload to get another 40 seconds and so on, getting really annoying as this is the time I like watching clips the most. It has been happening for a week now.

Tried a few speed tests and no matter which location I pick it never finishes. The speed test gets half way done and stops forever:

Hi Username1,

This is most likely due to the off-peak period starting at 2am. Our network load goes up hugely at this time as tens of thousands of users turn on mass torrent and filesharing downloads.

That said, if you could send me your account info i'll take a look and see if we can do anything to help

Long story short:

Slingshot are a great option if you want lots of data for a low price and don't mind average/slow speeds, particularly good if you mostly consume national traffic and/or cacheable content .

Slingshot are not a good option if you care about international performance, particularly stuff that isn't cacheable.

It's not uncommon for geek's in a flat to get a slingshot un-metered connection on one line, a different ISP with a capped plan on the other line and run pfsense or mikrotek or some other router to route some traffic type/destinations via slingshot (p2p, torrents, national etc) and some content over the other connection (international streaming, gaming etc).

Well my testing is confirmed.

Galaxy S i9000

Not compatible with Telecom XT network.

I'm now stuck with a very expensive phone I can't use and locked into a contract with Slingshot who without warning switched providers and sent out $10 phones they expect people to use...

Seriously, there must be something that can be done.
