I recently moved address and connection with Orcon.

I have been having connection issues and I am wondering if it is the same as what others have been experiencing.

I can get a adsl sync but speeds are very very slow.

Here are the numbers I have at the moment.

Upstream 504 (Kbps.)

Downstream 10068 (Kbps.)

Operation Data / Defect Indication                          Upstream                             Downstream

Noise margin                                                          7dB                                         11dB

Attenuation                                                               21dB                                     12dB

Is this due to the connection running through Orcons equipment?

Any help or info is much appreciated, from users or Orcon.

Thanks
Steve

So it seems that at the moment we just have to wait.

Wait for them to sort out the the equipment to cope with the demand.

Awesome :(

Hmmm. I'm not saying that is your case, but it's something to wonder and investigate. If it's the case you have to ask them to change your connection.

If you just moved house, its unlikey to be because of cabinetisation. You would have been put onto the best equipment for your location.

Can you define slow speeds? Your sync speed is 10mbit, so you should get that sort of speed to a local speedtest site.

I just did a speed test.

I used to get twice this speed (at off peak) at my old address.

With a sync speed of 10068 kbps you're not going to get significantly higher than this. Your poor upstream sync is potentially an indicator of poor internal wiring within your house affecting your speeds. I'm guessing that you don't have a master filter installed?

To be honest I am not sure if there is a master filter installed.

I have had a technician from Vision Stream test the line from outside the house and says that he can get a connection for the adsl but was not aware that it was a speed issue I was having so didnt test for this.

I have organised for a techinician to come through the inside of my house to check the internal wiring.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Again appreciate the posts from you guys.

Just a quick update.

Had the technician come through my house and there was some issue with the wiring but once fixed speed was still very average.

He made a call to orcon to get them to change me to the wholesale cabinet (something like that).

Speed is alot better after they changed me over.
