Hello,

I recently had to switch from Nokia to  Sony Ericsson; my new phone is a J108a and I´m a 2degrees user.
My problem is that I really need to set up my Emails at my phone and just can´t manage to do this. It does work well in major cities via GPRS connection (2degrees internet; APN: internet) but as I´m travelling the country there are many places where I do have reception but internet doesn´t work. I´ve already done some research but simply didn´t manage to find out how to set up the other connection option, the "CS Data"-Internet connection. I´m supposed to enter a name, phone number, username and password to create the new connection. Can anyone help here? Would this finally lead to solve the Email Problem?
Alternatively, I also found an option called Email-Gateway where I once again have to enter a phone number which I don´t know. Would this be a good option, too?

The old Nokia did all this automatically without any problems. I´m also open to any other suggestions!

Thank s for the help!

2degrees don't support circuit switched data, and a 2degrees user roaming on Vodafone can't use this either.

You should be getting internet access regardless of whether you're on the 2degrees network or Vodafone. Do you have a national data pack to use data when you're outside the 2degrees coverage area?

The packet data should "just work" regardless of being on 2degrees on roaming on Vodafone.

sbiddle's question about "national data pack" is because Mobile Broadband packs only work on 2degrees areas. Outside those areas you have to use the more expensive "national data pack".

Yes, this sounds like the problem. I live in Dunedin, and can't get Mobile Broadband packs (yet).
Luckily, I use the $19combo, so national data comes with it.

alright, many thanks for the responses!
I´ll try the national data pack, just as suggested by freitasm! Will let you know whether that solved the problem!
Though, I´m still wondering why the Nokia didn´t have that problem. I´ve never used any data packs with it. My internet costs were simply deducted from my balance and that was fine for me.

Data roaming turned off in the handset?

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

Alright,

some time passed and let me give you an update:
For some reason, it now sometimes does work and sometimes it doesn´t.
It may be a problem of reception, I don´t know.
Was in Kaitaia last week, where I didn´t work, but know I´m here once again and all works fine...
Sometimes even minimal reception is enough to connect, whereas I still have problems in some larger towns.
And vice versa: strange.
Thanks for your help, I will just try and try again... ;-)
