Just yesterday, my DVB stick (which is connected to my roof aerial) stopped picking up all Mediaworks channels i.e. TV3, Four, TV3+1 (it would only show a black screen).

When I tried to retune in both Windows Media Center and ArcSoft Total Media, neither channels were found. I tried a restart and shut down, but the retune still wasn't able to find the two channels.

I've also updated the software for the stick, and still haven't been able to pick up the channels.

I have:
- Windows 7
- DVB Stick model: WinFast DTV Dongle Dual Device (Leadtek)
- i7 2.30Ghz
- 8GB ram
- nVIDIA GeFroce GT 650M 2GB

Has anyone else not been able to pick up these channels, or knows any possible solutions?

What sort of aerial are you using? This would be the first thing to look at.

I was having issues with my TiVo loosing all Mediaworks channels last night. I believe it may have just been our crappy Wairarapa JDA transmitter that looses its backhaul all of the time. The problem is that the TiVo doesn't handle the channel issues too well.

Try re-tuning it, and if that does not work, check whether you are still in a area with Analog reception, like, for example, Manawatu because Wharite is still sending analog as well and that may also be not strong enough.

I live in Auckland, so I doubt its analog?

You need a UHF aerial for reliable Freeview hd DTT reception.

Does your aerial look like a UHF one?

Edit: also, where in Auckland are you? I receive the Waiatarua transmitter with no problem, but there are other DTT transmitters in Auckland. Skytower, pine hill, remuera, etc that are on different polarisations and frequencies.

I think so...but the thing is, it was absolutely fine up until the changes Mediaworks made. Never had any reliability issues prior.

The changes didn't affect aucklands transmissions as far as I know. Have you got another type of receiver that you can try out to prove it's not your stick?

Unfortunately not.

I clearly recall a notice being shown about a month ago whenever I first opened up a new instance of Media Center/ArcSoft, that said Mediaworks channels were going through some changes.

So...it seems like changes they were forewarning have caused me to no longer be able to tune their channels anymore.

I think there would be a shedload more posts here on geekzone if the changes stopped USB sticks from working. You really need to look at the antenna. You should be able to receive good analog UHF channels if the aerial is ok. Prime and Maori tv on an old analog tv would be the ones to check for good analog signal. What are the quality readings on the other two digital channels?

The mediaworks notice on their website said specifically that the Auckland region was unaffected by the changes. It would be something completely unrelated to the broadcast that is causing the issues.

There is no way any changes made by Media Works are the cause. Your issue is to do with your setup, whether it's the software not tuning the correct channels or your signal levels on the Media Works MUX.

Auckland still has analog tv. Only Hawkes Bay and the West Coast don't.

If it's only the TV3, 4 mux you can't tune then it must be a setup problem. Most likely lack of signal strength on only that Mux.
Check your antenna. Which Tx site are you pointing at? Do you have a UHF antenna and the correct polarity?
What are the signal strengths you are getting on each Mux?? Can you confirm you are receiving other channels TV1, 2 Prime) including all the analogue channels?
I have noticed dropouts here on the North Shore over the last few days particularly on Prime. No apparent reason as my signals are 100/100.
