Hi there,
Hoping someone may be able to offer some advice on my best course of action regarding Freeview.
We have just recently moved into a house with an existing Sky Satellite dish installed on the roof.
Before moving we have been using the Sony PlayTV unit for recording and pausing Live TV (and have had no problem thus far.) The wife actually finds it easy to use and does exactly what she wants.
However the PlayTV does not work with a Satellite Dish. I currently have it hooked into cheap “bunny ears” which do the job, but looks awful with cords hanging everywhere.
I was going to buy a Satellite Freeview decoder to replace the PlayTV – however was advised by a sales person that Satellite Freeview does not give “proper” HD TV – and I’m best to install a UHF aerial.
Can anyone advise me if you can notice the difference between Satellite Freeview and UHF Freeview?
Is it worth getting a UHF aerial installed so I can continue using PlayTV or just use the Satellite Dish already on the roof and buy a cheap DishTV recorder?
Any recommendations on Freeview recorders other than PlayTV (both Satellite and UHF? )– The PlayStation unfortunately does not play .MKV files – are any of these Freeview recorders able to do this?
And lastly the cable that is currently connected to the Sky Satellite dish – can I just plug that into a UHF aerial and it will work?
Any UHF aerial recommendations?
Thanks for your help.
