Hi there,

I've owned my vu+duo for about 3 years now and it had openpli 2 on it. I recently flashed the boot loader and image to openpli 3 as I could no longer download plugins. The re flash all went smoothly and after installing oscam and selecting it as my softcam my skycard is running fine...most the time.

I find daily it will drop the picture and audio (only the sky channels) and I correct this by going into setup>softcams>restart softcam, and I'm back in business. I have never had to do this before the upgrade, can anyone tell me if there is something I should be changing in my config file to address this issue.

Any help would be awesome, however, even though I have owned the unit for a few years I am relatively new to tinkering with it (who am I kidding, I'm a complete novice)

Hi there, thanks for your reply. Ive had a look at that link and quite a few other forums. I not really certain the issue is a Vu+ issue rather than an oscam config issue. I thought there may be someone on here that could provide a little detail on oscam for me. After a few weeks of searching I feel I'm probably searching the wrong keywords because I don't seem to find much detail on how oscam works and what it requires to run.

I have read here and there about 'EEMS' and updating or blocking them, but I have found no explanation of what they are and whether sky nz requires them to be updated etc.

I'm sure someone would have been down this road before and straightened their issues out.

Any ideas? Thanks again.

I think there are simply not that many people in nz who know that much about oscam. If you have had the same config working fine for a lone time then it would seem that the problem is with the image you are using. Why not try a different image to openpli such as vix or blackhole. I am using a similar box to the vu duo it called a tm-twin oe and I am running am image called 4d which is based on openpli 3. Although I have only just started using the card in the box I am finding no issues with this image.

Thanks kegnkiwi, are you currently using oscam? It's not a major issue and doesn't bother me too much...but it winds the wife up pretty quickly. I see you had a post last month on another forum say you had yours running with scam but it was freezing. I wonder if mine is a similar issue, did you find all you sky channels would just sometimes freeze and drop out?

If you are currently using oscam do you know if it is the most recent version or something older? Because I bought my unit new and preconfigured from trademe and never had a problem I was naive enough to think dreamboxes and vu+ just magically worked with skycards and didn't require software. It wasn't until I reflashed the image last month and had checked sky channels and quickly had that panic you get when you got your hand or head stuck in something as a child.

So I read up, found out about oscam and ccam, installed both plugins and tried them both and found that oscam was the one that worked. Is there alternatives to oscam that you would recommend or have I gone in the right direction.

I spent 8 months trying to get the old gold card running in oscam but it never worked it was only recently I managed to get the correct card. In scam it worked straight away but froze far to often to watch, you can try different versions and see if any are any better than others. The most important thing is to get the correct configs that you know work and take a back up. Then you can try different version of oscam to see if this resolves the issues. Even if you reflash another image all you will need to do is download oscam again and install your configs. I guess that you did not take copies of your original configs that you knew worked before flashing your new image.
