It plays xvid files but not properly.
The same files play perfectly on my PC even over the
network off the same HDD. This suggests to me there is something wrong
in the X9200HD.

I looked up the keyword Codecs and found that my PC has a
divx commercial microsoft codec which plays xvid files properly but
linux uses a free open source version xvid codec which might be the
cause of the problem?
(i believe the x9200hd is based on a linuc platform?)

So i converted an avi xvid file that did not play properly to make it a mp4 and found it now played perfectly on the x9200hd. Doesn't that indicate there must be a faulty codec in the unit for playing xvid coded files?

I have hundreds of family videos which are encoded in this xvid format
and it is nice just to be able to sit and look at the kids when they
were younger. Is there anything we can do to fix this problem with the
x9200hd pvr? Otherwise is there anything else similar that works without
these problems?
