hiya guys,

I finally got to use my DishTV S7010PVR over saterlight, I used both firmware patches available on DishTV support page, everything works nicely.

I purchased a 2TB USB Powered Seagate to record on, however after 4-5 minutes of detecting it freezes the DishTV S7010PVR,

I have tried smaller USB Stick of 32GB instead and it works fine,

I have partitioned the HDD into 1TB size, two partitions one primary the other local fat32,

can any one point me in the right direction?

also can USB sticks suffer burn out from constant use? I record quite alot every day.

Thanks,

Gordon

from dishtv [We always recommend that you use an external power source to power the HDD on a USB PVR. If your USB HDD does not have an external power source, we recommend you purchase an adaptor lead and power supply (plug pack) from a computer store.]

...so an usb powered hhd won't work. you need a hdd that has it own power supply.

there could be a size limitation that they're not telling you about. try having a 32GB FAT32 partition and see if that works and then if it does up the size to 50GB then 60GB etc...

also does the External work on any other device?

hiya

just a quick update for anyone who might be having similar problems

it appears that its the HDD powering down to idle which is causing the Freeview box to freeze with the HDD connected to the USB port

if i hit record the moment the HDD is detected by the Freeview box it is working fine as the HDD is busy recording

so now to see if i can stop the HDD from powering down while its connected

Gordon.
