I have recently bought another Samsung smart tv for another part of my house. It is a 5500 series.I have found when ever you switch it to standby it disconnects from the internet it retains the connection to the wifi but goes no further,to remedy this I just remove the power to it for 30 sec and then power it back up and it immediately reconnects. My older smart tv never has a problem.I have a wifi extender that the new tv operates through, my laptop tablet etc all work through that with no problems. It would be difficult to hard wire to the router as it is up stairs in a different part of the house. My discussions with Samsung help desk have all centered around the DNS setting which they have got me to change to 8844 ,but it hasn't resolved the problem.Thought I would see if anyone had any suggestions before I go back to Samsung.Or I could just put the tv on a time clock to switch of and on each day.

Can you cable it to the extender so its on ethernet? That might help it.

TV's are hobbled by obsolete efficiancy regulations which mean they have to basically turn everything in them off to meet arbitary targets set in the stoneages. That is why they are so slow too boot and get smart stuff open, and cant be woken over the LAN etc.

You don't make it clear whether it has a static IP (or just static DNS setting?).

My 40k5500 stays online while in standby mode(little red light) with WiFi or cable. Only time it disconnects is when I turn off the power at the wall.

-Check WiFi extender settings.

-Set smartphone as mobile hot spot, connect TV and switch to standby.

-Or a simple solution would be a Powerline Adapter. Less then $100 from TradeMe.

Worth trying a static address.

Thanks for all the responses I shall try making some changes as suggested. The odd thing is it works perfectly once I have turned it off and back on again and never drops out but the next day I come to use it I just have to go through the same procedure, working with the help ,line can be a little frustrating as after they have made changes they always tell me to turn it off at the wall and turn it back on again and of course it always works.
