I already have Bluray and 1080p Projector

My pc is :

Dual core 8400 3.0GHz
4GB RAM
750 HDD
8800GT
Vista Premium 32 and XP dual boot
Cyberlink Ultra
LG Bluray player

I want to add HD Terrestial Freeview and be able to get the guides etc. Based in Wellington

What card do I need to get HD and to record?
What works best and is the most stable hardware card I cannot find a list of the options that work now that HD is available.

There's a current discussion on the frontpage "Freeview DVB-T compatible video cards".

You will also need software because the card alone won't do anything. You will need either dvbviewer, Media Portal or GB-PVR. Windows Media Center does not currently support the required H.264 codec.

You will also need a H.264 codec. There's a discussion about this as well. The main one comes with Cyberlink Power DVD 8 DeLuxe, but it appears a free option is now avaialble.

Take a look at the Hauppauge WinTV Nova T 500 HD card. Dual DVB-T tuners (record & view separate channels or record two at the same time).

The card apparently comes with PowerCinema in NZ (at least according to two suppliers).

Probably one of the cheapest mainstream options given if includes PowerCinema (~$130). That provides the needed H.264 codec (saving up to $100) & as per my post under "PowerCinema" topic is apparently being upgraded to "fully support NZ DVB-T").

Even if PowerCinema (another Cyberlink product) is not updated to support DVB-T in New Zealand you still can use the codec with the other software options listed before.

Get a HVR2200 PCI-E for $140

For H264 codecs try the ones out of the driver link posted in the h264 options thread - saves you $70.

Thanks for the replys looked at Hauppauge WinTV Nova T 500 HD card. and it appears none are available till may 28th bit of a worry..

Yep, I got one yesterday, installed it and gave it a good going last night. It was really impressive, quick switching, full dual tuner , with no probs either recording 1 and watching another, or recording 2 programs. It looks a really solid one so far, I was running an HVR-1100 (on GBPVR). AJ
