Hi,

I live in the corromandal and have pretty bad reception(I can only get tv3) and have only just heard about freeview.

I have a SKY dish from the previous owners of the house which is already hooked up and ready to go.

I have a 3 year old laptop with 3.0ghz, 1gb ram, radeon x600 mobility built into it running vista perfectly.

All I want is a USB device that can decode this freeview network and watch all of its channels for years to come.

I dont care about recording, dont care about high definition, I just wanna watch TV and have it working on my laptop.

From what i understand about this, I wont be able to use DVB-T since i have bad reception anyway to those towers. so the satillite is the way for me.

Any ideas on which product to get?

So confused about the whole thing, just want something thats simple and that works.

Hi, I think that you can buy things for doing this from places like Dick Smith and other computer stores.....I think they are expensive though at about $100.
I'm not entirely sure but I'd say that this would be the case although I have heard that Freeview uses a different polarization to Sky so an adjustment of the satellite may be required.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

omg, what a coincidence, i was just viewing trademe when i came accross that exact same auction, i returned here to reply to this topic to ask if this was suitable for me.

Any feedback on this product, looks like it's a import from china/singapore?

Yeah I don't know the brand and you might find something better/cheaper with a bit of a google but that is an example of what you need :)

Cheers :). MediaPortal/TVServer is a really awesome opensource app. Leave MS MCE for dead, (and IMHO all other htpc/tv apps)

Ummmm

Why do you want to watch TV on your laptop?

Why not just get a satelitte Freeview STB and plug it into the TV?
