Hi
I have decided to drop Sky and move to HD FreeView this year. I bought a MatchMaster 02MM-MDU36 aerial...which is recommended for my area( via the MatchMaster site). ..I live in Whitby a suburb of Porirua.
I am using the Freeview tuner Via a newly bought HD recorder i.e. I purchase aPANASONIC DMR-BWT760GN i.e. which has a built in Freeview Tuner. So the aerial plugs directly into the recorder. Ant that is what I am testing.
I am still using the existing coaxial cabling.... which has been in place for years....but when I cut and strip for the new connection i.e. for the new aerial , the cable seemed okay.
So I setup new aerial and starting testing.....and not a great result.....
When I run the "Auto Setup" on the Panasonic device and it found no channels (at all).
So I ran it on manual setup where it shows from 0-10 rating for both signal quality and strength. Now strange it never registered any signal quality....but signal strength varied e.g. around the the 470-480 MHZ the strength was around 4-5.....but in the higher range e.g. 760-778MHZ it varied from 8-10 i.e. from the Panasonic setup tool.
Any thoughts why I would get no signal quality at all? but would get at some MHZ a very high strength ...sometimes registering 10 (highest).
I tried pointing the aerial towards the two areas for signal transmission i.e. Baxtor Knob and Mount Kaukau.... but no change in regards quality wherever I positioned it.
Many thanks in advance for any advice or guidance you can give.
Peter
