Can someone please explain how to get prime working through mediaportal.

Im using an HVR2200.

Im in wellington and using the Kaukau transmitter. Aparantly prime is on transmit channel 60 (whatever that means),
and has a frequency of 783.25

OK, taking a quick look at the HVR2200 specs, it appears to support digital and analog.

Furthermore, the analog tuner supports hardware mpeg2 encoding which means it should work fine with Mediaportal.

As you hopefully already know, Prime is currently only available via analog.

With this in mind, you need to split your uhf cable into two, and plug 1 connection into the digital port, and the other into the analog port (or your HVR2200).

Then in Mediaportal, you need to perform analog tuning. Select "cable" as the input method (not arial). Sounds odd, I know, but it works.

At the end of the tuning (maybe 10 minutes or so) you will end up with a hdandful of channels, one of which should be Prime.

Rename it to Prime, and delete all the others.

Ok, no you don't need to split the antenna! There is only one UHF TV antenna port on the HVR-2200. I never got the HVR-220 to scan analog, though I haven't tried for a while; instead just add a new channel and fill up the details on the analog tab. leave the frequency default and just enter the channel number; now go to TV Mapping in the TVServer console tree and map your new analog channel to the analog sidse of the HVR-2200. Also you need make sure you set up your hybrid card in TVServer otherwise you will have issues. All this stuff should be in the MediaPortal Wiki

Hi thanks for the help.

I think the problem im having may have something to do with not setting up the hybrid settings.

Although I was under the impression you only need to set up the hybrd settings if your card can only use one tuner at a time.
eg HVR400, 3000.
The HVR2200 can use the analog and DVB-T tuners at the same time.

Ill try setting up the hybrid settings tonight.

The HVR-2200 is Dual Hybrid Tuner. ie, there are two tuners which can switch between analogue and digital. Not 4.
And you can scan analogue, works fine for me here. Ensure when you map your hybrid combinations that you are mapping them together correctly, otherwise you will run into huge issues.
If i remember correctly, the order the cards are detected in (providing you havent rearranged them), is the order they are mapped in. So the first analogue on the list goes with the first digital.

The hybrid settings are needed on the HVR2200 as it is a true hybrid card. Yes, the HVR2200 can use 1 Analog, and 1 DVB-T tuner at the same time, but, it is still a hybrid card. There are 2 tuners, each of which can be either a digital or an analogue tuner at any point in time. You should see 4 (tv) tuners in mediaportal, however, only 2 can be active at any time - hence the need for the hybrid setup.

Shouldn't the two digital tuners be put together in one group and the two analog in another group?

Ive tried putting one analog with one digital tuner into a group and done the same with the other two tuners.

Im still having no luck with prime. I can view every other channel through the analog tuners.

I can get prime perfectly through my TV but it wont tune into mediaportal, I just get a blue screen with static.

Any more suggestions?

Ive tried putting one analog with one digital tuner into a group and done the same with the other two tuners.

The HVR-2200 is physically pretty much two HVR-1300's (i think?) which are a hybrid analogue/digital card. That is why it's important you get them correct otherwise there will be conflicts.

As for tuning into prime, setup the station manually, i think you leave frequency blank and just enter 60 for channel. Choose antenna and NZ. Map it to both analogue cards, and test with the preview.

Are you sure I have to choose Antenna?

Ive tried both and still having problems, its really weird I can tune any channel but prime.

Is there anyway I can use primes frequency (787.28) to tune the channel.

Yes, enter 787.28 under frequency in the channel setup. This is how I add Prime with my PVR150, can't see it why that wouldn't work with the HVR.

Finally working!!!!

When you manually set up Prime, The frequency for your area has to be put in the Channel area (783 for Kaukau).
In all the documention ive seen it says to put in the transmit channel (60 for Kaukau).

I say again: If the freq for your area is 783.25 (prime on the Kaukau transmitter) place 783 in the Channel tab.

Thanks all for your help, it's been a long day at work waiting to get home and test everything.

That's strange! Great you got it working though. I'm in Auckland and my Analog contains:
Channel:316
Frequency:0.00
Input Type:Cable
Country: New Zealand
Source: Tuner

I just loaded the latest SVN of TV Server and it worked.

I then loaded RC2 and tried the same thing, and guess what... it doesnt work.

Im gonna go back to the latest SVN and try again.

Yip just installed the latest SVN and prime works with the following settings.

Channel:783
Frequency:783.25
Input Type:Cable
Country: New Zealand
Source: Tuner
