Hello All,

In a nutshell, what I want to do is record C4 (which broadcasts in 1080i format) within Media Portal in ts file format (it's the only format that works) and use a tool to cut the recording into individual Music Video clips.

My closest sucess is to use Vista Movie Maker which sucessfully reads in the ts file, cuts it and then previews the cut file perfectly in the preview pane, however when I pubish it in any of the WMA formats that I have available (these are all I have) the video appears to only show a portion of the picture.

I have tested playing the output file in Media Portal, Windows Media Player, Nero etc and they all show it the same.

I have come across posts mentioning Windows Movire Maker HD, however I'm wondering if this is just the Vista version of WMM. The version on my machine is version 6 which comes out of the box with Vista Home Edition.

Can anybody shed some light on my issue please!!!

If your source material is 16:9 try changing the aspect ratio option:

Tools > Options > Advanced > Aspect Ratio

Hi,

That optiion in WMM is only for previewing from what I can see.

Is there a Windows Movie Maker HD version? My version 6 that came with Vista Home Premium also only putputs in WMA format. Is there an upgrade version available that will do HD?

It sounds like what you are wanting to do is split the files, without re-encoding. If that's the case, you can use something like TS Packet Editor, or H264tscutter. I use the latter with my ts files from mediaportal if i'm taking out the commercials or something.

My problem with movie maker in Vista is that it doesn't have h264 support. The wmv HD it refers to I presume is to support the output from HD video cameras, and doesn't use h264. I would assume that any update to movie maker to include support for h264 would be inline with an update to Media Center and Media Player to support it - SP 2, or Windows 7 perhaps...
