Hi all,

Finally got around to trying Window 7 x64 Media Centre. Wow so easy to set up after all the hoops I had to jump through with Vista x64 (and still didn't get that going!) :-).

I have it mostly working, just a couple of annoying problems I was hoping someone could help me with:

- TV3 Audio cuts out for a second or so every 5 secs or so. Video also sometimes 'jitters'. Watchable but very annoying.
- Only getting EPG data over the wire for TVNZ Sport Extra

Hardware acceleration appears to be working fine, CPU usage isn't an issue. I tried this hack to use ffdshow in Media Centre, but didn't work: http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/02/using-ffdshow-audio-in-media-center.html

Anyone else experienced these problems and/or got a fix?

Windows 7 x64
Intel Core2 Duo 3GHz, 4Gb RAM
Hauppauge HVR2200
NVidia GeForce 8800GTS 512

Update: Someone in another forum pointed me to this windows update (which is now available via Windows Update):

This fixed the EPG problem.

I had thought the TV3 problem was on the PC and XBox 360, but it turns out it's only a problem running through the XBox 360 as a media centre extender, PC is actually fine. Anyone else experiencing this?

There are several well reported issues using 360's as extenders.

Well reported in general or well reported here in geekzone? I'm trying to determine if this is a general xbox media centre thing or just specific to NZ Freeview TV3, and if there is anything I can do about it.

Both. Well reported in general - thegreenbutton has plenty of posts. There are issues with network dropouts.

As for your comment about EPG - I'm guessing you aren't aware that there is no MHEG5 support and no plans for this so will never be more than now/next using DVB-T. To get an 8 day EPG you'll need to import the data into Windows, there are several apps being worked on to do this since MS released the specifications.

Thanks for the clarification. Doesn't feel like network dropouts to me though - the audio seems to be consistently jittery while the video is perfect. No problems with other channels. However less often the video does suffer as well - this is probably the network dropout issue.

Yeah I'm aware I can't get the MHEG5 data, the problem was that I wasn't getting even the now/next data. However the update sorted that, so is all good now.

This one looks like the problem I'm experiencing:
o Dolby Digital Audio issue: when streaming TV (live or recorded) to XBOX 360 extender there are audio dropouts every 1-2 seconds when the program audio is in Dolby Digital. Stuttering audio in dolby

Good to know it's a recognised problem. Hopefully MS will provide a fix eventually.
