We have a Freeview HD tuner built into our Panasonic TV and we recently got a UHF aerial installed so that we could make use of the tuner.

Intially there was low signal quality on the TVNZ channels but that was of an acceptable amount. Recently however we either get all or nothing. All being Signal / Quality at 10/10 and nothing being no service at all on those frequencies. (TV guide information stuff appears - Havn't check if it is actually correct though, assuming it isn't directly link to the channel broadcast anyway)

I realise there have been problems with TVNZ playing with there bandwidth. As far as I could read on the forums, it seems to be more with the SD broadcast. I also don't see how there could be such a change in signal quality without it being something that would affect all channels?

Has anyone else noted similar problems?

We live in Upper Hutt if it makes a difference.

The changes with bitrate were to do with the DVB-S feeds.

It *is* possible to get 2 muxs and not get the other...dodgy aerial?

Wouldn't a dodgy aerial effect all channels though?

What frequency is it using for TVNZ?

I had similar issues that Fossie might be alluding to. I could get TV3 and other MUX's fine but my TVNZ was patchy. In my instance it was a less than stellar connection.... simple as that. So check all your leads/connectors to ensure they're as good as they can be.

I guess I could check all the connections. Although the cable and antenna were all newly installed.

I'll try remember to check the frequency tomorrow sometime. But i think its like 56.1Hz or something

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

What is the BER on the signal information in the menu?
Does it differ much between muxes?

A friend of mine lives there too and was able to get freeview UHF signal from several sources. His box tuned one of the two freeview muxes from a strong source, and the other from a weak source and had the same problems you seem to be having.
I'm not sure on your tuning setup, but ensure you have a good UHF aerial and then see if you can force it to tune from the strongest source. You might have to try each source to see which suits your particular location.

Okay so my frequencies are:
714MHz for TVNZ
730MHz for TV3 etc
762MHz for Maori/Parliament etc

If by BER you mean Bit Error Rate then I have no idea how to see what that is, it wasn't in any of the menus that i've seen.
I also have no idea how I would set the source and I suspect that since the decoder is intergrated into the TV the features are limited. Unless you mean realign the aerial which I don't really want to try.
