Hi There GeekZoners,

I am hoping someone out there can help me. I got the above receiver from 1day and have been having endless problems. They gave me some firmware updates to enable the PVR functions (to an external HD) and ever since I did these updates the STB just continually reboots. Anybody heard of this or know what could be causing it? Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Chris

The newest firmware available is 0609 from JCMatthews. However, if your machine will not stay running long enough to get to the USB menu to apply some different firmware, you may be stuck. I have to assume you have switched the unit off using the big switch at the back(?) If the machine will not boot properly, it may need to be reprogrammed via the RS232 port by the manufacturer. Luckily, 1-day warrants it for a year.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes I have switched it off at the back. The firmware I was provided with is rs232 and I can get to the menu if I constantly push menu as it reboots but every time you try to view any channel it goes into a constant loop again. It worked fine before I applied the firmware (I only applied it so I could get PVR functionality as specified by 1day). Is there other firmware that could right this or am I best returning it. Thanks again for the reply.

Sorry to take so long to reply - hadn't realised you had responded. Should be a good thing you can still reach the menu, so perhaps you can replace the firmware. Download version 0609 directly from the JCMathew website: http://www.jcmatthew.co.nz/products/dhe/dvbtb01.html. This firmware is stable and works fine on my Diginet DVB-T901, including PVR functions. Make sure you apply the JCMReload before you apply firmware 0609. Let us know how you go.

Question: If you get the thing running, can you let me know if you get a signal from the component outputs (Y Pb Pr), as it does not work on my TV. The TV seems fine as it accepts a signal on component from a DVD player. Have tried previous firmwares, but no joy.

Best of luck.

Wrote 1-day explaining my issues with letterbox format and component output. They spoke with the distributor, who said it was defective, and to return it - so I did. The distrib is to supply a replacement directly, so I will update this thread when I see how the new unit performs.

Anybody had experience with different types of external drives for the PVR? A 4200 RPM IDE laptop drive in a USB2 case is not recognized. Neither is a 7200 RPM Maxtor 3.5" 40 GB with a USB interface and an external power supply. Only drive I've gotten to work is an 8 GB Toshiba flash drive. Would like to know about others experiences in this regard.

I had inital probelms with PVR firmware but latest from JCMathew worked ok. I have a Western Digital drive which it did not like at first but I told the STB to format the drive which took all of 5 seconds, then it worked fine. There does not seem to be any way of seeing how much free space you have unless you plug the drice into the PC. I have not been able to play any saved programs on the PC.

My Y Pb Pr gives 2 very squashed and narrow images on screen with a thick black bar right down the middle. Composite works OK but I have to press the V Format button after using any other button to get the screen back into perspective, If not aveyone has a long thin face!
