Hi

I am posting here for the first time

I am wanting help with setting my STRONG (brand) freeview receiver to get TV1, TV2, TV6 & TV7 on Freeview

I am able to receive TV3, C4

I am at work now and so not able to provide the receiver settings I have got

Will post that later

In the meantime if anybody has got the information on how to setup the receiver for freeview channels especially TV1, TV2, TV6 & TV7 will be highly appreciated

Regards

Antony

Are the TVNZ channels tuned in but you can't receive them, or do you not have the details for the TVNZ settings?

If you can't receive them or scan them in then you'll need to adjust your lnb skew. That's the rotation of the plastic block piece the cable connects to, out on the end of the arm off the dish. Looking at the dish, with the arm and lng in between you and the dish, the skew often has the cable coming out the bottom at 7o'clock on the clock face. Or the top of the lnb rotated clockwise to about 1 o'clock.

Settings for TVNZ are:

Optus D1
Frequency 12456
Polarity Horizontal, H
Symbol Rate 22500

Remember to look out for the multiple TV one broadcasts and pick the one that relates to your area of NZ. Just means the ad's will then be specific to your area then. Look elsewhere for a post of mine on those settings.

Also, grab the Australian SBS channels whilst you are at it.

Optus D1
Frequency 12646
Polarity Vertical, V
Symbol Rate 12600

I moved location from Kelburn to Tawa in Wellignton
So I was getting all the channels in Kelburn
Dish was already installed in the new place where we have moved in
Just connected the cable and started the auto scan and only tv3 and c4 got saved

Do we need to reset the receiver and try your instructions or just change the settings?

Ok if the channels are there, ie you can be watching TV3 and then hit the channel down button to TV2 where it comes up with no signal or something then the channels are already tuned.

If the channels are already tuned it should just be a case of optimising the dish alignment and I suspect it will be the lnb skew that needs rotating one way or the other.

Odd if it was an ex sky setup as they are usually pretty good at aligning it.

If you press channel up and down and it skips TV1 and TV2 etc altogether then those channels are not stored in the unit and you will have to enter the info I listed above and rescan for them.

I had the EXACT same issue as you describe, witht he same brand of decoder. I had to rotate the LNB (by 90degrees iirc) and now it's perfect.

Since I am new to this setup, I might be asking a stupid question

When you said you had to rotate the LNB, do we need to do it physically on the dish or on the receiver?

Climb up onto your roof, and the Bit which is out on the 'stick' in front of the dish, twist it so that the cable which is coming out of it sideways is now facing up or down, or vice versa.

Just so you know, i don't claim to be in any way an expert on the matter, this is just an answer i found on the net when i had the same issue, and it fixed it perfectly.

Sweet, this means that these channels are still tuned in.

So....

Simply select a channel that you can't get, and this will bring up the 'no signal' on the TV.
Turn the volume up heaps.
Get out on the roof
Take note of where the lnb currently is
Don't touch the dish itself, it's in the right position if you are getting some TV channels.

Start rotating the LNB clockwise or anti clockwise.
Don't move the LNB in towards or out from the dish, only rotate it left or right.

Keep going until you hear something on the channel on the TV.
Two people will make this easier if the dish is a long way from the TV.

To help, try and adjust and then move your arm away abit.
Certainly don't let your body 'shade' the dish too much or you will be blocking the signal from the dish.

When you do get a signal, it's best to really tweak it to optimise the LNB position.
Technically you could move the LNB one way until it loses the signal and mark the LNB there.
Then move it back the other way until it comes and then drops back off again.
Mark it again there and the best location is somewhere near the middle of the two marks.

Good luck.
