I have a new 2.3 meter mesh dish pointed at AsiaSat3 and I have a real good box (openbox S9 HD) to tune in the channels - I get a channel called Lotus TV from Macau it comes in signal intensity 86 and Quality 48-56 - that is when the sky is clear of clouds - if its raining I have virtually no signal - I have a Satmax LNB that claims to have 17K

My question is - How can I get an improvement ? will a better LNB help at all - would a 2.4 steel dish make a difference?

Has anyone else had better luck tuning in this channel

any advise will be appreciated

Mesh dishes do not have the same signal collecting ability, as they are full of holes.

Have you optimised your current setup?

-This requires a lot of testing to make sure the lnb is correctly positioned, both 'in and out' and rotation alignment wise.

Also check the connections to ensure no water is entering anywhere if you say it takes a dive when it rains.

A professional satellite meter and calibration of your existing equipment might be worth it in the first instance?

I have had a crack at the in and out and the skew it has made a big difference but now I have to wait for some bad weather to see how it goes.

Mesh dishes are not as effective from the same surface area as solid dishes but the difference between the two types is smaller for C band than for Ku band reception.
