I have a Zimwell (ZMT 620HD) Decoder (terrestrial aerial) which has worked well for the last 2 years, whoever it started showing pixels?randomly?during?viewing but would eventually find the picture again and work fine. (almost like interference) We have been away for weekend and turned everything off but now the 'No Signal' box is flashing on the screen? I have disconnected everything and put back, run an auto scan and it picks up 43 channels but when I select one to view, I either get no picture or a very bad pixel-ated one? Does anyone know about these or of a 0800 contact number? Napier is going?digital?this year, I'm concerned I will be left with no reception at all!??

One thing - your actual aerial may have been damaged. We live in a relatively high wind area and our very simple UHF aerial has had the bottom angled grid part bent. It doesn't seem to have affected either our Zinwell 620HD (like yours) or our Magic TV box, but we live in direct line of sight to a big transmitter.

Also if you can try it in another room that would help.

This seems to be happening to these boxes. Friend of mine just had same thing happen.

Still got a receipt?!

Very possibly time to shop around.

But yes, check aerial and connections etc in case these have degraded to the point you are seeing problems and then nothing at all. Being winter/windy it is worth investigating this.

Flatmates one started to need to "warm up" before delivering reception. It was bought right when freeview launched and he sold it about 6 months ago with it needing about 1 min of no signal from poweron before delivering a stable picture.

Another friends one from about the same era which was never turned off as they couldnt get the power command to work on their universal remote became glitchey and often just showing a mess of moving pixelated mess, and also when switched off and on would take forever before even showing anything.

My guess is on dead caps, but really its not going to be worth any service techs time to replace them as they are not exactly high value items.

Mine did exactly the same about a year ago and at the same age and would only work when it got really hot. Used to take ages to get going after being turned off for a while. Symptoms were first noticed after a local power failure for about 1/2 hour. It was the DSE copy of the Zinwell. This seems to be a common problem with this model.
If you have the receipt or the shop can find your Credit Card payment in their records then demand a replacement under the CGA.
I had mine replaced under the Comsumer Guarantee Act.
I now have a new TV so the problem won't re-occur with the replacement box.
