Is anyone still getting the SBS channels?
I haven't been able to get them for about a week now, & am getting concerned they might have gone..
Put it down to weather at first, but don't usually lose them for this long...

You don't have another box holding the polarisation in H do you?

Theres a similar thread, stating the power output has been lowered, so aligned dish/LNB is now critical

Ah - I'm on a 90 cm dish, so maybe that's part of the reason I'm still up and running.

SBS with still the same signal strength receiving on a SKY dish here in the Hutt Valley.

same here on sky dish but have noticed the lower output during the bad weather recently :(

My parents in Auckland are also having problems with SBS. Regardless of the weather the signal is very poor. On a standard sky dish, with an el-cheapo decoder. Any suggestions on how I can improve the signal and get it watch-able again?

Just the usual really - check and tweak dish alignment, LNB skew angle, connections in the cable. Chop off any branches in the "line of sight" to Optus D1.

Getting a bigger dish or a more sensitive LNB may be another way to go.
Oh - it's also possible that if the LNB is old, it's drifting from it's designated intermediate frequency (11300 or 10750). Maybe tweaking that value in the receiver will help, or maybe just spend $25(?) on a new LNB and take a punt.

Those are just some ideas - I'm no expert so they could be wrong and I may have missed the obvious.

SBS seems to be fine for me (in taranaki) however I did notice this morning that the EPG data was missing, haven't had time to inestigate why yet but if anyone else has noticed this it might save me some time??? (the guide data is usually collected directly from the broadcast by mediaportal)

My Vu+ Duo has EPG data to 9-dec for SBS HD and SBS2. That comes off the satellite, not from any internet source as far as I know.

All looks copacetic here.

I was not able to figure out why I had lost the EPG data, but I was able to fix it by using EPG collector to collect the EPG data off the satellite transmission and then import it into MediaPortal with the XMLTV plugin.

Thanks for your help guys.

I'm pleased to report that I've got the SBS channels back again ...
Turned out the satellite angles were very slightly out, maybe moved by the strong winds we've had recently!

The SBS signal strength & quality are still pretty low at 57 & 75, but my reception is fine at present.
I'm not sure what they were before, but they are well below NZ channels at 66 & 82.

I guess an upgrade to a 90cm dish would also help..

No problems with EPG.
