Hi There!

Anyone else having problems with UniFi Reliability? We have sold 4 and all four of them have had faults requiring replacement within 6 months ?

We've only got about 8 of the 'standard' (i.e. not the grunty model) flying saucers deployed and have had zero issues with them. We are using the PoE injectors that they came with in all cases.

What model?

I've installed hundreds of the things (and have plenty of power supplies if people ever need any!) and have had hardware failures, but all have been for specific known reasons with some specific batches of the UniFi and LR saucer devices.

Like all Ubiquiti gear it has it's pros and cons.

I have two of the "flying saucer" access points and have had 0 problems apart from wishing I had bought the dual band model. :(

ive bought about 20-25 units in the last 1.5 years or so, had 5 pack up. [edit, i mostly buy the LR version]

its quite disappointing in regards to their reliability.

its quite disappointing in regards to their reliability.

There were several batches of LR's that had a fault. I spent some time dealing with UBT on this and sent them back a lot of devices to the US before they discovered a fault. They were basically self bricking themselves after a few months, you could get into them with a TTL cable but the flash would come up with CRC errors if you tried to format it and reflash the device.

I've put in maybe 30-40 Unifi's of differing flavours but mostly just the standard UAP. Used the UAP-LR every now and again and had only one pack up.
Have shifted on to the Unifi Pro's now, installed maybe 5 or 6 and no issues with them so far.

All in all I think they are great. The captive portal built in to the controller is pretty awesome once you muck around with it a bit.

I've been running 2x of the UAP-Pro's at home for months with 4 flatmates, multiple laptops/tablets/cellphones/misc wireless devices and no issues :)

The only thing that I find annoying is under moderate wifi load, you can hear a funny noise being emitted from the unit's, quite annoying in the lounge if you're not watching t.v that is..
