Hello, guys how are you doing?

I am working in a small clinic as network administrator. And this clinic uses software such as; Patient Info, Radiology, pathology, hematology, admission and Billing system. Right now, they inform me to read and understand about” HL7”.

So, please guys I need help about this” HL7”, what is HL7 means? How to use it?

  Thank you very much

Hey man, I work in the health sector too.  HL7 stands for Health Link 7.  I don't have a technical background, but it is a secure way to send and receive discharge summaries and other clinical information from one place to another.

I used to work in the healthcare sector.  To oversimplify you can think of this as healthcare orientated XML.  In relation to your role this is a "nice" way to look at it.

HL7 defines standards for the exchange, integration, retrieval of healthcare data.

Google it...

                    Hi, guys

from both of you I got information about HL7. And you said that

1. It is a secure way to send and receive discharge summaries and other clinical information from one place to another.

2. Defines standards for the exchange, integration, retrieval of healthcare data

so, is there any CD available for installation or is it possible to download for testing?

          thanks

HL7 stands for Health Level Seven and is a broad standard that most healthcare systems use for interoperability.  The systems subscribe to the standard to enable departments to choose best of breed applications rather than a single solution for the hospital.  Hospitals also use an integration engine to recieve and broadcast the message.  The HL7 web site is http://www.hl7.org/
