If an office 365 subscription lets up to 5 users use it, how does that work with multiple microsoft accounts? There's the master account with which the subscription is purchased, but the other four users will have their own Microsoft accounts. Can these other users still log in with their own free accounts (so that the office 365 products save documents in their own free 15GB)? Can everyone see everyone else's stuff in the the 1TB cloud storage?

An Office 365 subscription doesn't allow 5 users, it allows one user to install the Office software on up to 5 different devices. So you can, for example, install it on your desktop, laptop, tablet & smartphone.

Each user must have their own subscription.

I'm talking about 365 Home, which is 5 users (and in practice this is upto 15 devices as far as I can tell - 5 PC, 5 tablet and 5 phone).

I think I understand how the license is shared now (by invitation), but it seems that it's not 1TB for 5 users but rather 1tb per user (so 5TB in total), am I understanding this correctly?

On the Office 365 account "install screen" about half way down there is an "Add User" menu. This is where you set the other Home users up for the first time, you then install office on their device. When they run an office app for the first time (say word) they can then login from the app. It will show up on the Add User menu that they have been added and their install will show up as either a PC/Mac/Laptop or a device. Each user also has access to their own install screen so they can manage their installs but I have never used this feature.

Note: the 64 bit version of office is available from the "language and install options, additional options" menu from the main install screen as well.

Is there still no way to select an install directory other than C? This was the case last time I tried 2016.

You click "Share office 365" which gives you the option to add a user.
You can add users by email invite, Facebook, or web link.

EACH PERSON GETS
Access to your available installs.
An account page to manage their own installs.
An extra 1TB of OneDrive storage.

No, each user cannot see everyone else's stuff as each subscriber has to have a different Microsoft account.

However, you can make the same OneDrive files visible to more than one Office365 subscriber by sharing a OneDrive account. I do this. I logon on two computers using two different Microsoft Accounts. I change the OneDrive account my second computer to match the OneDrive account on the first computer. The issue with doing this is that sharing OneDrive also shares the Office365 account so if the shared account is the main Office365 subscription account then it will be accessible from both computers. In my case that is not a problem because I am the only person working on both computers.

Not that I know of. Office is based on a variation of the Application Virtualisation (App-V) technology called 'click to run'. The application is streamed to your machine and spread over a number of locations, rather than the old traditional single place install using MSI packages (installers). One of the benefits is the ability to perform continuous updates without impacting the ability of the individual to keep on working.

Is there any difference between the $165 "Office 365 Home" 1yr sub on Microsoft's site and the "Office 365 Home Premium" 1yr sub that can be found for as little as $100 on PriceSpy?
