Dropbox have announced they're dropping support for Windows XP, so I need another file sync app.

I tried SpiderOak One but it's given me problems and their support is crap. I need something that will work on XP, Linux and Android. Any suggestions?

And no, upgrading from XP is not the answer...

Google Drive apparently works with Windows Xp

There's no Linux support for Google Drive unfortunately.

There are third party Linux apps for it, but you never know when Google will change something and break the app.

Getting off XP is always the answer. Nothing running XP should still be connected to the internet imo.

I think you will struggle find anything reliable that still supports XP. Most developers have finally (thankfully) given up supporting it.

I think you will struggle find anything reliable that still supports XP. Most developers have finally (thankfully) given up supporting it.

Yet oddly enough this is only the second app that this has happened with, and I can't even remember what the other one was now. It was easily replaced though, as I'm sure Dropbox will be.

Sorry to hear you don't want me on your internet though. I'm not sure what I did to incur your dislike.

Nah, I want it to be automatic. Dropbox is unobtrusive and reliable, but having to do things manually just means they won't get done.

Most "private Dropbox" implementations like OwnCloud,Seafile, Pydio allow WebDav access, so you can mount it as a volume.

Antivirus products withdrawing support.

Web browsers having support withdrawn.

Dropbox, Skype ..... withdrawing support.....

But yeah - if you can still 'live' XP it is ok for the basics - becoming a technology cul-de-sac though.

Running an unsupported OS is probably near the top of valid reasons for not wanting your winXP machine on the Internet.

Microsoft have created the rather lucrative fantasy that once they stop support for something it will immediately fall victim to every virus, trojan, exploit and bug in the world and crash horribly, taking the entire internet with it.

Back in reality though, I've had my old lappie for nearly ten years and by having a good firewall and antivirus, plus not being stupid, I've never had an infection of any kind. So currently security is 100%.

As for support, I've never had to ask Microsoft for help, so that's not a problem. And since they stopped doing security updates not a single bad thing has happened. So currently my need for support is zero.

When the day eventually comes when XP or the hardware finally can't do the job, then I'll buy a new one and put on an OS with proper security and support like Linux or FreeBSD. Until then I'll carry on with what I've got. It just works.
