Hey Guys,

I'm on a mission, I have a database I have inherited and would like to reverse engineer it map it out to get a better understanding of how it all links...

I know it is a heap of work, so am looking for advice as to some app / tool that I can at least map out the datafields to (with linkages etc.)...

Any ideas as an app that could do this?

Thanks - Grunta

We use http://www.dbschema.com/ at work, and quite like it.

Generally unless someone took the time to document or impose proper foreign key & primary key relationships those tools will generally just give you a diagram showing all the tables etc. And not how they are related.

Not sure if you can still use Visio (it used to be able to do this) but we used Sparx EA to do this kind of thing before.

Good luck.
