Hi there. Chris here. New member with a bit of a problem.

I'm trying to set up a 'Directory' type website (www.foodfinder.co.nz) through OPENHOST using their SITEBUILDER tool.

The problem I have is finding a suitable template for this type of site. I am a complete novice with sitebuilding but can just about scrape through the basic template programme.

I have found a compromise template using the Eshop feature and think this might be suitable but would like to remove a couple of the FIELDS from the Products page layout.

Price? $ 0.00
?

The layout lends itself to what I'd like to achieve but would like to find a way to remove the above fields from each business page entry.

As you will see I haven't done much at all with inputting sample businesses but this is only because I don't want to spend hours on inputting to then find it's all been a waste of time.

If anyone has any knowledge of Sitebuilder and can offer an tips, helps or suggestions I would be very grateful.

Chris

Just noticed that the fields I was asking about didn't publish (although they showed on the draft post.)

The fields in question are: -

Price $0.00

ADD TO CART

BUY

It may have been obvious but I thought I clarify.

Chris

unless you're wanting to construct the simplest of simplest websites I'd stay away from any of those sitebuilder tools that hosting companies provide

instead check out a CMS, the top three would be: Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal (and to a newbie I'd recommend you'd try them out in that order listed. Strongly suggest you use Wordpress first as is the easiest for a newbie)

Any more questions about it feel free to ask away!

You should contact the host for support, as they are the company you are paying and they will know the systems they are providing.

I contacted them but the sitebuilder is a 3rd party program and they can't do more than offer very basic support.

What I want to do is 'edit' one of their templates to remove 3 fields from the front end.

I had assumed it was a matter of editing a file which controlled the layout of the products page but as I mentioned I am a little out of my depth.

I'd give the 'edit' a go but don't know where to look.

You should try squarespace.com . It is a decent site builder /CMS system, and they do provide full support for it.

I'd suggest first checking out Openhost's one click installation for wordpress as I just checked and they've got it, as you've already got an account with openhost so you might as well make the best of it for now
