I have been using my S2 for well over a year and am very happy with it ... BUT ... in the last week or two battery life has plummeted. The battery used to last all day, now it is all used up by 1pm even with very light use.

I don't think it is the battery itself as I have a spare battery that performs just as badly.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you added any new apps that could be causing drain? A sudden loss of battery life is usually (IMO) down to apps.

Hard reset can work wonders in this case! If that fails time for a new Battery

Is the spare battery your comparing it to a genuine samsung? Most aftermarket batteries are rubbish and in my experience only last around 40% of the OEM genuine. Plus they tend to have a pretty short lifespan. This could be your issue but its also very likely to be caused by a malicious app as Elpie states.

My opinions are purely my own and are not at all those of my employer 2degrees.

i'd go as well with an App recently installed.
I installed the DrawSomething app a while ago and my battery life reduced noticeably.

The little things make the biggest difference.

I turned off cellular data and the battery life went from 100% to 10% in 7 hours to 3 days.. Must be an app that is polling the 3G a lot. With WiFi only enabled to will do about 30 hours between charges,,

I've experienced the same problem. About one year of S2 use with excellent battery, then in December, battery life plummeted. I now cannot get through a single day, whereas I was good for 1.5 - 2 days previously. The only new app I installed at the time was Pandora radio - but I don't use that often, so unlikely to be the culprit? It's really frustrating. Hoping that a future firmware will improve - I'm running 4.0.3 - is that the latest firmware for vodafone?
